The County maintains four Solid Waste Collection Centers for the citizens of Surry County.  They are located at the following sites:

Goodson Path Solid Waste Station                     Pineview Solid Waste Station

The following classes of waste will be accepted at these centers:

  • Household waste
  • Residential yard waste and trimmings brought by residents (one load per week)
  • Residential contruction debris, scraps, furniture brought by residents
  • Residential appliances and recyclable metal brought by residents

Business and commercial waste cannot be disposed of at these centers.  Commercial contractors must make other arrangements for the disposal of waste generated by their work.


Solid Waste Collection Station Hours:

Effective November 1, 2010, all of the County's waste collection centers will be operating on the following schedule: 

Monday through Friday from 7am - 7pm and on weekends and most holidays from 8am - 4pm. 

Solid waste collection centers will be closed on July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday.

April, 2017 is Surry County Clean-Up Month!

 The Surry County Board of Supervisors has designated April, 2017 as Surry County Clean-Up Month.  Citizens are asked to clean up, spruce up, and beautify their properties and the roadsides of the county during the month.
In an effort to help, the county solid waste collection crews will provide special refuse collection containers at the following locations and times for citizens to dispose of appliances, furniture, yard debris, and scrap building material.


 On Saturday, April 22nd

9:00am— 1:00pm Bacons Castle Grocery (Rt 10 & Rt 617)

9:00am— 1:00pm Old L.P. Jackson School Site

9:00am— 1:00pm Goodson Path Collection Site (Rt 10 West)

 9:00am—1:00pm Mantura Collection Site (Rt 10 East)


On Saturday, April 29th

9:00am—1:00pm Claremont Fire Station (28 Mystic Ave.)

9:00am—1:00pm Pineview Road Collection Site  (off Rt 40)

9:00am—1:00pm Claremont Beach  Villa Road

9:00am—1:00pm Goodson Path Collection Site (Rt 10 West)



Recyclables including paper, glass, plastics (#1 & #2), along with steel, tin and aluminum cans can be dropped off at the Goodson Path and Pineview Collection Stations during regular operating hours.  (7am—7pm M-F; 8am—4pm Sat & Sun)  All items should be rinsed clean; please do not  include bottle and jar caps as these are NOT recyclable.


Junk Automobiles/Old Cars:

There are several organizations listed below that will accept donated automobiles which can be tax deductible.  Please call the organization of your choice to arrange for the donation of your    vehicle.
