FOIA - Freedom of Information Act Requests

During the 2016 legislative session, the Virginia General Assembly passed legislation which requires that localities designate and identify FOIA officers whose responsibility is to serve as a point of contact for citizens in requesting public records.  Mr. Tyrone W. Franklin, County Administrator, will be acting as the Surry County Freedom of Information Act Officer for general government offices and the Surry County Board of Supervisors.  Elected officials in Surry County will be acting pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-3704.2 to name Public Information Officers (PIO) for the following departments, and departmental sub-pages will be added to this website containing contact information for each PIO:

Clerk of Circuit Court
Commissioner of the Revenue
Commonwealth's Attorney
General Government & Board of Supervisors
Sheriff
Treasurer
