Notice on Personal Property Tax Letter Received

Treasurers Update

Notice on Personal Property Tax Letter Received

2022 Personal Property Taxes - The Debt Set Off Collection automated system which, the County uses to collect money owed, mistakenly captured data on 2022 taxes subject to the payment deadline extension.  This may have resulted in taxpayers receiving letters from the Department of Taxation about withholding of state tax returns.  The issue in the system has been corrected and the Department of Taxation notified that funds should be released; however, there may be a delay in processing at the state of 2-3 weeks.  Additionally, the refund will be issued by check instead of direct deposit - please check your mail.  If you have been impacted and have not received the return prior to the extended personal property tax payment deadline of March 6th, please contact the Treasurer’s office at (757) 294-5206.
