SURRY COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization for Surry County will meet on the days hereafter listed on the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration and INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM such real estate assessments. Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer or agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment. The taxpayer or agent must provide a preponderance of the evidence that the assessment of the property is not uniform with the assessments of other similar properties or that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value.
Appointments will be scheduled every 15 minutes to minimize waiting. To appear before the Board of Equalization, please call Juanita Parker at (757) 294-0193 Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. to set your appointment. Meetings of the Board of Equalization to hear objections will be held in the Surry County Surry Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, VA 23883.

Monday, June 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Additional dates and times may be scheduled if necessary and advertised.
