Virginia’s spring fire season is underway, and the statewide 4 p.m. Burn Law is now in effect through April 30.
Outdoor burning is prohibited between midnight and 4:00 p.m.
Despite recent snowfall, much of Virginia is experiencing drought conditions due to below-average rainfall. The Virginia Department of Forestry has already responded to dozens of wildfires this year.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Delay burning yard debris until after fire season
- Avoid burning on windy days
- Never leave a fire unattended
- Follow all state and local burn regulations
